Hello!
I am a Canadian citizen, who has a bachelor\'s degree in Journalism, Broadcasting, and Mass Communications. I have a letter of reference as well. I\'ve tutored children in English before as well as babysat for children, and I can say I am excellent in dealing with children! I love being around them!
In particularly the younger years a person has the ability to pick up languages rather quickly. My basic educational philosophy is that when learning is infused with passion, it leads to learning much quicker, and effectively. When a student has fun with his/her subject, the sky is the limit. The right teacher can stimulate a positive experience towards learning. This is vital for student at a young age, as this is the time which sets the foundation for an individual for the rest of their lives. Having had a witty, positive, and vibrant first grade teacher, I myself have seen these benefits as I became inspired to read, and it has become a lifelong passion. I want the same for my students. I want that English is not just another subject, or something they find boring. I want them to feel enriched and alive every time they are in my class so that a love for English can be developed early on.
Having moved twelve times between the U.S., Canada, and India, I am no stranger to encountering cultural differences. Cultural differences can be a challenge, but is also teaches you about yourself, tests your ideologies, and learning different cultures is fun. It is exhilarating to step outside of your comfort zone, and learn a new way of life. We are living in a globalized society, and I feel people that are proficient at handling cultural differences will be successful socially as well as professionally. You encounter different food, accents, different talents, ideologies, etc. You open your eyes to a new way of seeing. Once you experience different cultures, you take back something extraordinary and it becomes part of you. You de epen your understanding of others, and harbor very positive experiences within you.
I have one year total teaching experience in Taiwan mostly amongst kindergarten and preschool children. (I have three months substitute teaching experience as well). I live in Shenkeng.
